Testimonials

As the Executive Director, at a non-profit, I was impressed with Heather during the time I worked with her. She coordinated community events and Board and Committee meetings; initiated one-on-one chats with merchants; updated website content and researched and wrote the copy for the inaugural merchant directory. Since then, I’ve called on her to create promotional copy and website content for my business. She’s passionate about clear, concise writing. Her skills are impeccable.  She’s also a lot of fun to work with, too!

A former colleague recommended Heather to work on the annual report for our 60th anniversary. After Heather took on the project, we connected on a weekly basis to plan and coordinate strategy and content. Heather’s a true professional who really cares about what she’s working on. She’s very knowledgeable and she brought many ideas and suggestions and a fresh perspective to the project. I was impressed with her ideas, her research skills, accuracy and thoroughness.

Heather worked as Senior Communications Advisor on a special project for the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration. Heather wrote and implemented a communications strategy to commemorate the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade act. Her position included monitoring the Bicentenary Commemorative Committee’s projects; providing communications counsel and resolving issues while ensuring Ministry policies were met.

Heather wrote website content, media releases and speech bullets. She tracked communications materials through an approvals process involving Communications and Program staff, senior ministry officials and Cabinet Office. Heather coordinated a series of events including a simultaneous broadcast of a media event held in both Toronto and Dresden. She also edited a quarterly employee newsletter, supervising freelance contributions and an employee editorial board. In a challenging role, with competing priorities, Heather met deadlines and remained pleasant and enthusiastic, maintaining positive relationships with all concerned.

Heather was hired as a Communications Coordinator at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto to cover a maternity leave. In my role as Foster Care Coordinator, I worked closely with Heather on a number of projects. She’s a thoughtful and creative person and I enjoyed her enthusiasm along with her ability to develop and implement new ideas. Heather provided communications counsel to the Homes4Kids committee as well as launching and organizing a series of successful internal fundraising events.

Owing to her interest in getting corporate product donations for the children and youth at the Agency, Heather acted as an influencer within the Volunteer Recognition Committee. She developed correspondence asking for corporate product donations on behalf of Agency clients. She managed production, coordinated freelance contributions, wrote and edited the quarterly newsletter.  She assisted in the coordination of media events and the Annual General Meeting. She also acted as a media liaison, conducted media interviews and trained staff for media interviews.

Parents are more aware of how important it is to read to their children on a consistent basis so they can help build their child’s vocabulary. They also learned techniques on how to be more animated when reading to their children. By simply changing the pitch in their voice or using facial expressions to keep children engaged during their story.

Parents learned they can utilize books as a tool to approach sensitive issues and behaviours such as hitting, biting and bullying. The outcome [of the Read With Me Workshop] will be children looking forward to reading with the parent.

I want to thank you, Heather, for facilitating a wonderful workshop and showing parents an insight to reading and books.

In my role as Outreach Marketing Coordinator, I worked closely with Heather at Times Change Women’s Employment Service, a non-profit charitable organization with over 40 years of service to women in Toronto.

Heather served as an Executive Board member with Times Change for six years. She proved herself to be an experienced communications professional with excellent interpersonal skills.

With her personable nature, enthusiasm and commitment to working in cooperative allegiance with both the Board of Directors and Staff, she provided counsel, strategic insights, energy and creative ideas to Times Change.

Heather actively participated on a number of committees and initiatives, including the Marketing, Annual Report, Strategic Development, Hiring and Nominations Committees.

She implemented exit interviews for outgoing Board of Directors. She also engaged her family members for a charity walk and teamed with staff to meet with MPPs during a successful advocacy campaign to create greater awareness of our organization.

Heather provided effective leadership in media relations, event planning, soliciting corporate gift donations and the editing and proofreading of marketing materials.

When our Board or Staff came together, Heather’s professionalism, along with her insights and humor, helped to create a positive experience for all.
